Fireflies is becoming a full-sized game!
We have exciting news!
Welcome! First of all, we’re thrilled to share with you all the great stuff we’re developing. And to take off, we will explain two main topics about the development of Fireflies: WHY and HOW.
This project was born in 2018 when it was made for GMTK Game Jam, the event which inspired us to start our team - Nest Game Studio. Since then, we have been developing a few short games, practicing and improving our skills, while we were getting ready to hatch our first major project. But why did we choose Fireflies as the best option for this endeavor?

WHY?
About mid-2020, we sought funding for a new project by joining a government investment program for startup companies. The goal was to launch our first commercial game, even though we knew that the biggest challenge would be the “commercial” aspect of it. Because of that, it was safer to rescue a past project we were already aware of its potential and leave more mental space to discover how to turn our studio into a financially sustainable company.
Fireflies has always been the cause of great admiration for us. Either for making us eager to explore its possibilities or for being one of the game jam’s highlights, amongst more than 1000 games. It was the perfect option - letting our debut project lead the way to many future projects to come.
So what? How is it going to happen?
HOW?
Well, we first need to get our ducks in a row before we guarantee how Fireflies will change. It’s safe to say we are changing a lot of things - without losing the game’s essence, of course - and we can’t wait to reveal more details about them. Throughout this year, there will be a few playtest sessions, so, if you're interested, please join our newsletter!
STILL WANTING MORE?
Hyped with all things we shared with you, we would like to give you a little taste of what’s coming. The original prototype from 2018 was rebuilt into a more playable version since it was infested with bugs... And it’s also more accessible! You can play Fireflies directly through your browser, no download needed. Amazing, right? Play it now!
